SMILEY

OCTOBER 2021

Mid 2020 I started to notice smiley faces popping up everywhere. The most simplified icon of happiness was trending. With two dots and one line you can express a human emotion, and happiness was one we were all desperate for. This exhibition explores the power of the smiley, its 1960s origins, its place in popular culture and what really lies behind the smile. -Amy Rowan, curator
